Project Description

Margret Ellwanger is founder and one of three co-directors at forPEACE, a non-profit organization led by women with a mission to contribute to peace and economic self-reliance by strengthening families through education and micro enterprise partnerships.

From 1976- 1983 Mrs Ellwanger was a published researcher in solid state physics ,first in Germany at Siemens Research Laboratories and later at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

In 1984 she took time out to raise  her four children and occasional foster children in the Netherlands, California, Tokyo and Singapore. The family made the decision to come to Israel in 2005, when her husband, Mr. Russell Ellwanger was appointed CEO at Tower Semiconductor.

In each respective community, Mrs. Ellwanger remained active  in either local education or humanitarian positions. Her educational, scientific and family based experiences solidified her vision of children around the globe growing up on a peacefully cooperating, sustainable planet with parents who have fair access to earning sustainable income to provide adequately for family needs with dignity and respect. To this end, in addition to the charitable work of forPEACE, she co-founded several income generating community development support enterprises- incorporated under the umbrella name Umoja Social Ventures.
