Awards and Competitions

TIMEMUN features a number of awards and competitions. This year’s competitions will be announced by November 10, 2025.

Competitions:

  • Writers Matter competition 2026: Teams of 2 writers on the theme “A Path Forward: Healing, Unity and the Future”. Submission deadline: February. 6, 2026. Cash prizes. Full details here.
  • Position papers: Due Feb. 12, 2026. Award at closing ceremony. Full details here.
  • Additional competitions during the opening ceremony, the TIMEMUN Social, and the Global Village.

TIMEMUN award policy in 2026:

  1. Best Position Paper (1-2 per committee)
  2. Best of Delegation (1 per Delegation of minimum 5 delegates)
  3. Best Delegate (1 per committee)
  4. Outstanding Delegate (1-2 per committee)
  5. Distinguished Delegate (1-3 per committee)
  6. Best First Time delegate (1 delegate per conference)
  7. Best Admin (1-2 per conference)
  8. Best Chair (1-2 per conference)
  9. The Diplomat Award (1-2 per conference)
  10. Best Delegation Award (1 per conference)

Position papers are graded based on three considerations:

a. Research; b. Creative solutions; c. Quality of writing. Excessive AI use or plagiarism will render a paper ineligible.

Delegate awards will take into consideration the extent to which a delegate:

  1. Contributed to writing a comprehensive resolution that addressed the topic 
  2. Advanced national interests/character’s interests
  3. Expressed themselves well verbally and through writing
  4. Worked to build a broad alliance, and to include other delegates
  5. Showcased creativity, problem-solving, and finding compromises
  6. was a consistent delegate–active throughout all sessions
  7. Followed ROPs and respected decorum in the committee
